Elastix gearing up for the release of V18 which is set to be the most comprehensive business communications solution on the market, ever! Before the final unveiling, we’re giving you a taste of the goods with several alphas and betas for your testing. Here’s what you’ve got so far:
V18 Alpha 2
Alpha 2 includes some impressive security updates that are not only going to make your PBX safer, but are also going to improve the user experience. Overall performance of the PBX and smartphone apps has undergone several improvements for supercharged reliability and speed.

- Encrypted voice calls: Trunks are now automatically configured to use secure SIP/secure RTP.
- Update to Debian 10 Buster: The OS has been updated for improved security and performance. All 3CX ISO installs will be automatically upgraded to Debian 10.
New & improved iOS & Android apps
As well as the redevelopment of the smartphone apps earlier in the year, V18 Alpha 2 introduces a complete overhaul of our SIP core and networking features. This is to improve the reliability and usability of the apps, and includes:
- Improved audio quality.
- Faster and more reliable reconnection when switching networks.
- Enhanced notification delivery using the latest Apple and Google Push services.
Supercharged performance with a modern OS
Although many PBXs use outdated Linux distributions, this is never the case with 3CX. By keeping up with the latest distribution, we continue to ensure security and powerful performance. This also means you get:

Even better admin experience
We’ve added an additional admin level which includes access to IVR configuration and queues, but not system or SIP trunk settings. These more granular admin rights enable you to more efficiently delegate tasks to employers. What’s more, we’ve:
- Improved MS 365 integration for quicker set up.
- Normalized inbound call ID to e164 format to improve CRM integration and configuration of trunks.
- Added ability to see who changed what and when with an audit log of system changes.
V18 Alpha 3
Alpha 3 includes a lot of fixes and a few new features for an overall improved experience for administrators and users alike!
